Mark SURMAN

Lawyer partner

Mark SURMAN has been a lawyer at the Bar of LYON since December 2017. He works principally in the following fields: personal data protection, health data,  intellectual property law and new technologies.

His work mainly involves advising and assisting professionals in the health sector on:

  • their concerns in dealing with digital health matters (qualification of software solutions, General Terms and Conditions, General conditions of use, licenses and IT services),
  • their compliance with the GDPR and the French Data Protection Act (GDPR audits, data protection impact analyses, compliance policies and procedures),
  • the challenges they are facing in protecting, managing and valorising data and databases,
  • drafting and reviewing contracts (partnership, co-development, consortium agreements, MTA, DTA).

2012

He obtained his CAPA (Lawyers’ ability exam – EDARA, 2017) and holds a Master II in Intellectual Property Law (University of LYON II, 2014), a Master I in Business Law (University of LILLE II, 2013) and a European Law Degree (Faculté Libre de Droit de LILLE, 2012).

2017

Mark SURMAN has been a lawyer at the Bar of LYON since December 2017.

2018

Mark SURMAN has a first year of experience in a business law firm and almost three years of experience working alongside Thomas ROCHE in the Life Sciences Department of DELSOL Avocats.

2021

Mark SURMAN joined Life Avocats in 2021. He speaks French and English (bilingual).
